This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Choking is one of the leading causes of death in children. Some common hazards are grapes, strawberries, sausage, hotdogs, small toys, and candy or gum.

As the school nurse in two elementary schools with around 600 children I know that having a LifeVac device readily available, along with a staff that is trained on prevention and performing the Heimlich, is essential.

LifeVac is a non-powered, non-invasive airway clearance device developed to resuscitate a victim with an airway obstruction. LifeVac has recorded 3,000 lives saved from the usage of their device.

LifeVac offers free online training and a free replacement if and when the device is ever used.
