My Students

Bullying is happening everyday in our schools. It can happen to anyone, anywhere. It contributes to violent behaviors and terrifying consequences among our kids. Our teachers as well as our students need to learn how to recognize bullying signs and how to address bullying altogether. Let's save kids!

Our students are middle school aged children who need a lot of emotional and financial support.

Many of our children live with a grandparent, guardian or single parent. Many also come from foster or group homes. They are extremely underprivileged, many times with only the two school meals to eat for the day. Most students come from broken homes, where they and/or their parents and siblings were abused. As we already know, "hurt people, hurt people." Thus, many of our children use bullying as a mechanism of defensive; they hurt others to dull the pain that's within them. This cycle must be stopped and changed.

My Project

The Bully Movie focuses on our country's bullying crisis. It details the effects of bullying and shows our students the lives of students who are getting bullied as well as the students who are the perpetrators. The students will be able to identify with the main characters and will be able to feel their pain, anger and hurt. They also will be able to see see the negative outcomes of bullying. This will change their overall thinking, attitude and behavior about themselves and each other.

Our students will identify with the hurt and pain of the children in the movie and make text to self connections.

They will see how bullying can cause children to eventually commit suicide. They will see there are other ways to deal with pain, hurt and anger. This movie will cause our children to stop this nonsense and hopefully become better human beings.
