Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the Japanese Anime and Culture Club advisor for over 40 students. We meet virtually on a weekly basis to discuss anime, play games, and get to know each other.

My students are an animated, sociable and fun-loving group with unique interests and talents.

Some of them draw, create digital art, write short stories, and cosplay. They love Japanese animation and enjoy sharing their enthusiasm with each other.

My Project

For the past month, my Anime Club students have been working hard to organize their first and only in-person event of the school year, an Anime themed Sports Festival! The pandemic has been hard for many of our students who've been isolated at home.

The Anime Sports Festival event is a way to build community and give students something fun to look forward to.

My students have designed custom games and created digital marketing material to prepare for this coming event.

Some of the games they've planned include: Haiball (Volleyball), Stride (Obstacle course), Chunin (Trivia), Copy Ninja (Charades), Escape Neverland (Tag), Food Wars (Dodgeball), Anonymous Noise (Karaoke & Dance)

Fortunately, I've already completed a project to fund most of the event. Now we just need a carnival wheel and snack prizes to add to our festivities and to share with our student volunteers at the end of the event.

We're anticipating 50+ event attendees (limited capacity due to the pandemic). Many students are looking forward to this event, and we hope you'll support our efforts so we can make it happen!
