My Project

Children are naturally drawn towards animals. Our world contains so much animal diversity, it is challenging to just cover one area. This is why we are constantly reading and offering various text, field trips, and craft projects; to show off the amazing and unusual world of animal life.

By providing high quality, realistic animal figures to students, we can foster their love for animals, the development of their observational skills, and motivate them to use the materials for research, modeling, role-playing, and social inquiry.

We are hoping that your funding will help us not only show animals that are familiar to students within our local environment, but from around the world. We would like to see that students make connections that animals often adapt similar or wildly different traits to survive their habitats and climates.

By using prehistoric animals, we offer the students a glimpse into the past. Using research texts within this project, we intend for the students to make the connection that prehistoric animals (dinosaurs and ice age mammals) also had to adapt to their ecological and climate pressures. We can also use these figures to build historical time limes and showcase the scale of time of life on Earth.

Lastly, we offer to the students a few mysterious creatures. These creatures, such as the bigfoot, unicorn, and dragon can be used to teach the concept of cryptozoology. This area is important in helping establish critical thought. We can also use this concept to engage in story telling and dialogue around myth and nature based culture.
