This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is full of bright-eyed, beautiful children who are excited to learn. The majority of them are low-income and many of them are coming to pre-kindergarten/Kindergarten already behind. They are ready and eager to learn new things and to have new experiences.
Our school is located in the city of Detroit and we are a Title I school where all of the students in the school qualify for free lunch.
Many of our students eat breakfast at school as well. This is the beginning of their educational experience and I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
My Project
Every school year my class studies different continents. Students are always most interested in the animals. I have chosen animals from all around the world to introduce children to all of the continents in a fun and exciting way. I am going to put together continent animal boxes for children to be able to match the animals to the continents as well as learn more about each animal and continent. The animals in this project are a great way to introduce children to the uniqueness of each continent and its inhabitants. I will also use them during science lessons and students will use them to learn about animal classifications.
