My school is full of great students! Many of them come from difficult background and socioeconomic situations. Even with their many challenges, my students make the most of things and are ready to learn. Many students see their situations as a motivation to work hard in school and to have a better life.
Despite their postive attitudes, many students are lacking in access to quality literature.
Because of this, a large percentage of my students struggle to read and are well below grade level. As a teacher, I want my kids to love reading and inspire life-long readers.
My Project
Many of my students are not strong readers and lack access to quality literature at home and in the classroom. This was emphasized during the COVID - 19 pandemic when students were confined to their homes. Many students passed the time playing games and watching television rather than reading, and their reading levels suffered.
My goal is to bring quality literature to my classroom to engage students and make them lifelong readers.
The novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is a classic that will engage students and engross them in its wonderful mystery. The book is also a great example of the mystery genre which we will be studying in class.
