Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Every year librarians from across the state of Louisiana read hundreds of books for the purpose of choosing the 15 best books written for children in grades 3-5 and the 15 best books written for children in grades K-2. Louisiana Young Reader's Choice is a reading enrichment program sponsored by the State Library of Louisiana.

Students in grades 3-5 and K-2 are encouraged to read these books in order to be invited to the voting party at the end of February 2026 where they will vote on their favorite book.

During the voting party they will be entered into a drawing to win free books.
