Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a pre-kindergarten bilingual teacher who teaches in a school located in a low-to-medium income area. Most of my students are Hispanic and African American. I have 4 students with speech difficulties, one autistic student, and some students with behavioral issues. However, my students are sweet, caring, energetic, and extremely creative. They have outstanding personalities. My ultimate goal as an educator is to continuously level up my students with the materials they need in order to succeed.

My new 3-year-old students need up-to-date furniture to sit, relax, read and socialize.

The two sofas should have been discarded as they've been in the classroom since the opening of the school, 19 years ago. However, they are still in use because students need to sit.

My students this year are incredibly young and must be taught basic tasks such as eating, sitting, talking, and going to the bathroom alone. As a result, I must equip my class with age-appropriate materials which my classroom is currently lacking. Modern seating actions are crucial to any modern classroom.

My Project

The sofas currently being used by my students are in horrible condition. They are almost two decades old! When we break up into centers, there's never excitement to go into the reading area! The sofa has holes, rips, stains, and deflated cushions! It's definitely not the ideal place for a 3-year-old to relax and read.

Studies show that flexible seating and a comfortable classroom atmosphere is likely to promote a good mood in students.

This is crucial, especially for students so young. New sofas will provide my students with an exciting and flexible place to lounge and read.

The reading area in my classroom currently looks depressing. The cube chairs and sofa will give the area the life it lacks. During centers and other classroom work time, my students will finally look forward to the reading area.

Although complex, reading is extremely important for young students as it is the basis of all their learning. It can be a hassle to get my students motivated to read; however, the new seating will have them captivated in no time!
