Help me give my students 4 sets of rocks, 1 rock painting kit, papyrus paper, stencils and 10 sets of markers, scratch art paper, hieroglyphics stencils, a pack of hand wipes for clean up.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Pre-K through elementary school.
Our school is located in one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation.
Many of my students have special needs, are repeating a grade or are struggling academically to achieve grade-level expectations. Many of my students are from single-parent homes and reside in nearby public housing. The need essential resources to maximize learning opportunities to ensure they do their best work every day.

My Project

We are requesting 4 packs of rocks, stencils, assorted rock painting pens , 4 sets of Egyptian Papyrus paper and a variety of books to read and teach about ancient Hieroglyphic letters. and ancient civilizations. While learning about ancient civilizations, my students will be able to experience the magic of Egyptian hieroglyphics by using the paint pens to create their very own designs on the smooth rocks. The can use the pens and stencils to create hieroglyphics on the Papyrus paper like ancient Egyptians did thousands of years ago and twist-ties to turn their papyrus paper into official looking scrolls. The hand wipes will be used to keep their hands and free of paint and ink. This project will be instrumental in empowering students through art. The books will enable them to make cross-curriculum connections to literacy, art, math and science while studying ancient civilizations.
By reading and learning about ancient civilizations, my students will learn in a hands-on way about the history of paper making and how the ancient Egyptians used papyrus to make their own paper.
With your help, they will be able to use the papyrus paper to draw their own hieroglyphics or even write their name in hieroglyphics. No doubt, hieroglyphics can be decoded! Please help my students learn how to read the handwriting on the wall.
