My Students

My students live in an urban area outside of a major city. This is their first year in Middle School. The ethnicity of our school is 99% Hispanic. One hundred percent of our students qualify for free lunch.

My students are eager to learn but our school lacks funding for necessary resources.

Printed resources are outdated. Supplemental materials are limited. Our access to technology is also limited, even though the Common Core standards require use of technology for all students. Our classroom needs several repairs and our student desks are in poor condition.

My Project

My students will be researching the history of Ancient Egypt. They will be researching information on the Internet and preparing reports for oral presentations. They will also be writing a 2-page report, using the Common Core standards, on the contributions of Ancient Egypt.

My students need ink for the printer to print texts, pictures and reports.

They will be identifying geographic features, religious practices, achievements, political structures, economic features, and social structures of the Ancient Egyptian people. They will also be creating visuals for their oral presentations to the class

The students will also be assessing the presentations of their classmates using a classroom-created rubric.
