Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As you know schools have been closed since March, due to the coronavirus pandemic. My students are very hands-on and need to be in a classroom setting. I am currently working in a low -income, Title I school, where supplies are limited to my students and myself. Since I am teaching second-grade students, the students need to be exposed to different learning techniques so they a better grasp the concept of learning. Hands-on activities are a must to get the most out of the students and to keep them engaged. My classroom is filled with anchor charts and other helpful factors to help my students recall information. Working from home can be very challenging because you don’t have the necessary materials that you need at home to better help the students. The students were given a computer to take home to complete the remainder of the school year. That was a problem because some students didn’t have internet and the parents were unable to help their child at home.

My Project

This double-sided easel board will help me continue to teach my students as I would if we were in school. I will be able to give examples of how their work should look before turning in their assignments. I can also hang the anchor chart on the other side of the easel for continuous learning. My English Language Learner (ELL) will benefit from the easel because they will see pictures and examples of what is expected for them to learn. Second grade can be challenging if the resources are not being implemented when teaching.
