Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

My students are thoughtful and resilient! At our Middle School, all seventh graders are enrolled to take 7th Grade Pre-AP Math. For many of them, this is very challenging as it is the first advanced class they've ever been in; however, they are constantly rising to meet the high expectations being set. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and with appropriate support math class becomes a transformative and empowering experience for them as they build both their language proficiency and analytical skills. They love learning by doing and are naturally curious about the world around them!
My Project
These materials will provide all students in my classroom with personal school supplies (pencils, erasers, pencil pouches) and storage (cardboard storage units) motivating them to take ownership of their work and overall learning! As we transition back to 100% in-person learning, it is especially important for students to have their own supplies to contain any spread of germs. Giving students a place to store their belongings can help achieve this.
I am requesting the following items (organizational bins, motivational posters, bulletin board decor) to help create a welcoming classroom environment where students feel safe, connected, and confident.
In order for students to actively engage in content material, they must first feel comfortable - having a well-organized and decorated classroom that promotes a growth mindset helps create this space.
Lastly, the fun stickers, mini erasers, and raffle tickets will be used to help start building positive reinforcement and a reward system in the classroom. Students who meet expectations by being respectful, completing tasks, and helping others will receive raffle tickets that they can save and use to claim prizes each Friday. It is essential to remain positive and reward student classroom successes!
