My Students

Technology is used everywhere. Today's children are faced with an ever changing world of technology. Unfortunately, not all children are able to have access to all types of technology. In order to give each child an opportunity, we need this technology in the schools especially in the classrooms.

I am a kindergarten teacher with 24 enthusiastic students in my class.

About 80 percent of my students are on free or reduced lunch. All of my students are highly motivated to learn no matter what challenges they face at home or in their community. All the parents in my class want the best education for their child and they try to do the best they can.

My Project

As I finished this past school year, I always reflect on the year. One thing I know for sure my students love technology and we don't have enough technology. My students go to our school's computer lab once a week for 30 minutes. They love going there but I wish they had more time. Therefore, technology needs to be in the classroom, too. Thanks to people like you, I was able to get an iPad for my classroom. My students love it but the only problem was they didn't get enough time with the iPad. So I think it would be great if we can get one more iPad. The iPad motivates them to learn. They think they are just playing games and solving puzzles but they are learning. Most of my students have never used an iPad before. It is amazing how fast they learn. They love playing various apps like Teach Me..Kindergarten, Teach Me..1st Grade and Math Blaster. Also, they love to record themselves reading and playing it back. The iPad will help my students master the kinder skills and challenge others.

After 19 years of teaching kindergarten, I want to continuously improve my teaching practices.

I want to prepare my students for the 21st century. They should feel comfortable using today's technology. I hope you will support this project so I can challenge my students and also, help the ones who need extra practice by using the iPad and getting various apps. My students (and future students) and I appreciate your support. Technology makes learning fun! Please support our future leaders!
