My Students

A typical day in my classroom is one filled with innovation, excitement, motivation, and fun. My goal is to enhance curriculum and student learning environments with iPads. The biggest challenge is not being able to provide an adequate number of iPads for the consistency needed to build fluency.

I have a wide array of students in my 2nd grade classroom.

They include high achievers, English language learners, and students with special needs. They all come from different backgrounds and life experiences, but the one component that brings about equality is the use of technology. My students love having access to different project choices that match their individual learning styles and interests. Work they need to do becomes work they want to do. My students need 3 iPads with cases to achieve academic outcomes through technology. With the consistent use of iPads, I can facilitate endless opportunities and create hands-on, customized learning experiences.

My Project

When my students use iPads, they write, analyze data, and present work in engaging ways. They create data-rich projects with photos, videos, and graphics as well as effects to enhance typical assignments. Students gain easy access to research information necessary to complete projects or tasks, they learn to collaborate with peers, and they think critically and problem solve. In addition, iPads can help with literacy and fluency. For example, I love watching my students create a book review using pictures and graphics, finishing by using the voice recorder to read their final product. I've learned that iPads can help students with disabilities. The touch screen helps kids with poor motor skills express themselves. Lessons can be tailored, based on student needs, which allows for differentiation. By identifying students who need extra help or who need to be challenged and move forward, the iPad can provide a platform for additional curricular paths and challenges.

Having iPads in my classroom will enhance the learning environment dramatically.

This is simply how our new generation wants to learn. Not only will they be having fun, they will be improving all aspects of their academic outcomes. With iPads, what they achieve goes way beyond the classroom. It truly is the perfect learning companion. Thank you so much for the amazing gifts you are giving our children!
