Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students shine because of their diligent work ethic and school pride. They attend a Title I school, and though they face many challenges within their community, their school spirit and motivation to learn is high.

My Special Day class students have mild to moderate disabilities that encourage them to give more effort every day.

They are embraced at school through mainstreaming and our fifth grade is fully inclusive. My students must be prepared to be fully included, and laptops are needed to enhance their math skills.

My Project

My Special Day class needs this laptop to have rigorous math practice and advance their deficient math skills. Using the laptop daily will further foster better math, writing, and computer literacy, as my students will have the opportunity to engage in and type responses to real world math problems. A laptop would enable the use of adaptive applications to perform computations and fortify basic math facts, moving from concrete to abstract math concepts.

This Dell laptop will make content comprehensible for all my students with disabilities, through high engagement, interactive math games and building their typing skills.

Having adaptive applications further individualizes instruction, as students can work toward understanding place value and performing multi-digit arithmetic including multiplication, and division concepts. My students are highly motivated to learn but are in need of resources to advance their learning.
