This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are the kindest and most hard-working 6th graders you'll ever meet. They're diligent and come in ready to learn, however, the classroom isn't always ready for them. In many schools, the classroom space is often neglected, but particularly for students on the spectrum and with learning disabilities, a comforting learning environment is key.

Students who are sensitive to bright lights, hard chairs and desks, loud chairs, or dirty spaces have a hard time adjusting and learning comfortably.

Our current beanbag chairs are flat and torn, chair socks falling apart or just plain missing, and we are out of cleaning supplies. My students who have special sensory needs make up a good proportion of the class, but honestly, every child deserves a comfortable and comforting space in which to do their best. Help me help my students to feel and do their best when they're at school.
