Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an awesome group of third grade students working on different academic levels, with the majority of them working at least one grade level below. It is a joy to teach my students who come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of learning styles. Despite the abrupt closure of school and the difficulties navigating through distance learning, my students still managed to maintain a positive attitude!

As result of COVID-19, my students were forced to adapt to a new way of learning.

This "new norm" of teaching created additional obstacles for them. With the help of their family members, my students were forced to learn how to access on-line assignments, e-textbooks, and sign-in to Zoom. This was a major challenge for my struggling learners.

My Project

Although my third grade class is made up of students working on different academic levels (ESOL and students with learning difficulties), they are all eager to learn about the world around them. Due to the closure of school, my third graders were forced into remote learning which was just another hurdle they had to contend with. Not only are they being taught Reading, but they are also being taught Math, Science, and Social Studies online.

I need a more powerful and reliable computer to use during distance learning so I can reach every child with their learning.

I found during our Zoom story time, there were many glitches, like poor connection and audio sound. My current computer is outdated and as such, I need a better computer that will enable me to teach Math, Science, and Reading effectively.
