My Project

The books I have requested are high quality literature meant to not only help my students grow as readers but to also address their many needs. I chose books that addressed dealing with adversity and the many emotions that students feel today. There are also diverse books to allow all my students to "find themselves" in the books they choose. There are also books that are highly engaging to my students such as graphic novels. I want to encourage my students to select books they enjoy that will motivate them to read for pleasure, so they can build the habits of lifelong readers. In addition to fiction books, I also selected non-fiction books to help students build their reading skills of informational texts. In addition to the books, I carefully selected, I also requested a couch for my media center. I want to encourage students to get comfortable and read in my space, and the requested Sofa Couch Modular Funiture system will be perfect! I also want students to feel comfortable coming to the media center if they need to take a break.

Over the last few years, we have had to address many social and emotional needs of students and having a safe, quiet space for them has become an important part of that process.
