My Students

Do you remember when you read your first novel? Chances are that it was sometime around third grade. Our third graders have become voracious readers and I need to keep up with them!

It's so important to hook all our readers in with engaging titles despite vast difference in reading ability.

The students' reading ranges go anywhere from 1st to 6th grade and we need to have the right books for everyone! Many of our students are ready to tackle chapter books, but some are still building the necessary skills to be successful in more difficult text. This project is focused on engaging our lower readers who are reading at 2nd and early 3rd grade levels.

My Project

This project includes 60 books- 10 of each of 6 titles. With a set of 10 books for each title, we can conduct book clubs and have literature circles with small groups of students. Book clubs are a great way for my students to work together to develop ideas, delve deeper into the characters, and examine plot development. Some students aren't yet ready for typical chapter books so they need titles that are designed for children that are helped by visual cues, lower reading level, and less text per page.

All students should have access to books at their reading level that are engaging and exciting.

This collection of books will meet reading level needs of general education and special education students and offer titles in multiple genres to help them explore all kinds of literature.
