This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is so much fun. Our students learn in many different ways using all of our senses and multiple intelligences. We use a wide range of techniques to help all the students succeed no matter what their level. Our students attend a Title I school. Most of the students come from families from low socioeconomic status, with over 70% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our state. Our school is a caring community of successful learners which can be seen through collaborative student project-based learning in and out of the classroom. Kindergartners in our classes love to work with hands-on materials and have many different opportunities to practice a skill before it is mastered.

My Project

My classroom needs an easel to use when we are reading big books and working in small groups. This easle will allow me to sit on the rug with the students and work with them with ease. The low eye view of the easle will allow the students to easily see the material and focus on the task.

Students should have a safe and comfortable place to learn and focus in the classroom.

Additionally, our classroom is lacking storage space. The shelf I am asking for will store the materials the students need and use daily. I plan on storing the students homework baskets and other materials in the shelf, thus allowing the students to grow their independance in the classroom of managing their own materials.
