My Students

Hi! I have the opportunity to teach pre-kindergarten at a Title I school right in the heart of Brooklyn. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are an inspiration to many in the world that we live in! Though the method and environment in which children learn best vary greatly, the children come into the classroom daily ready and willing to learn! Please consider contributing to creating an environment in which the needs of each student can be met effectively! Thanks so much!

My Project

Children are usually intrigued by singalong songs that involve counting, spelling, or remembering a sequence of events. Children also begin expressing their likes and dislikes of different types of music. Musical experiences in childhood education can accelerate brain development in areas of language acquisition and reading skills. The purpose of this project is to provide students with musical options within the classroom that can further enhance their language and literacy skills. Music is also a means of relaxation as well as behavior management. It encourages them to move their body without restrictions and limitations. Dancing to music helps students build gross motor skills (beanbags for specific body parts) while also allowing them to practice a form of self expression. Most importantly, music has the ability to bring a great level of joy to an individual!
