This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Kindergarten is such an incredible time for growth both academically, and socially! Our diverse class is working hard every day to grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, friends, and citizens!
Twenty-six students from the US, Nigeria, Mexico, Ghana, and Nicaragua make for a diverse mix of bright personalities in Room 23!
In this low-income urban school, we aren't afraid to try new things and challenge ourselves academically! Our school serves over 800 kids, 76% of whom qualify for free and reduced lunch. My students inspire me daily with their confidence and bravery in tackling kindergarten!
My Project
One positive that has come out of our time during virtual learning is access to school-wide 1 to 1 technology. Each of my 26 kindergarteners have their own tablet that we use daily! On our tablets we can complete digital assignments, access differentiated material geared to our own academic goals, play educational games, and have choice books read aloud to us! Without headphones our classroom can become loud and distracting with the sound of so many tablets! Headphones will keep us tuned in and engaged with our individual learning task.
