My Students

Our school is part of a naturally integrated community on the border of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Our school is located in a multicultural neighborhood and the demographics of our student population reflects this diversity.

My class is a self-contained preschool special day program for students with special needs working on the general education curriculum.

Although I have been teaching for nearly a decade, this is my first year teaching preschool so I feel like a brand new teacher again!

My Project

I'm asking for a new laptop because it has been my primary teaching tool over the last year and a half of distance learning. It's been through a lot: Daily lessons over Zoom, digital lesson planning, and virtual meetings! My current laptop that I use for work now is one that I purchased with my own money over seven years ago. It has been faithful and reliable, but it is getting close to the time for me to upgrade.

I am creating this DonorsChoose.org grant to get a new MacBook Pro, so I can continue teaching to the best of my ability through a pandemic.

Even though we are now back in person, I still rely on my laptop daily to lesson plan, attend professional developments and trainings, and attend virtual staff and IEP meetings. Having a reliable laptop is a necessity.
