My Students

The third grade mind is full of questions and ideas. In order to address the wonders of our children's cognizance we need to provide them with the best outlets with which to express themselves.

My school rests in a small town New Hampshire suburb.

Our students are an eclectic group of bright and inquisitive individuals. They always seek to learn more and grow both academically and personally. In our community opportunities are not always provided to these beacons of our future. In a financially underprivileged area, the teachers here arrive every day with endless stamina and resolve to aid in growing these young minds to greater heights. Unfortunately this process is hindered by limited resources, where the staff simply has to make due.

My Project

In the classroom students will be able to use iPads for a multitude of activities and learning. In reading, iPads would help increase fluency, give opportunity for students to work with words, and giving auditory aid in reading stories. In math students could use our math programs for basic practice skills on which to build a foundation for the more complex problems they will face throughout the year. We also have interactive math lessons which would be made available. The technological benefits of iPads are enormous. In education today dealing with technology is almost a required skill. This generation of students will partner their learning with these kinds of tools for the rest of their lives. Many of them don't receive this kind of exposure at home. Apart from the small group instruction, we do whole group lessons as well. These iPads will be used in order to reach not just individual students but can simultaneously be used to educate the whole.

Students in my classroom will be able to use these iPads to have learning specialized to each of their needs.

I will couple the teaching I already do with the technological aspect in order to challenge their minds and build skills. They will have the opportunity to continue to use them as they advance for more and more activities and projects. Having more tools for learning will make our classroom more fun, more well rounded, and more learning and knowledge will be available for all!
