My Students

Our school was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey, so now we are housed at our local high school. Even before the hurricane, our students faced many adversities because of their low socioeconomic status. Many of my students families had a difficult time meeting their daily basic needs. Despite my students' obstacles, they are great kids and still strive to be successful. Their efforts are many times thwarted because we don't have a variety of instructional materials available to us. Even with the lack of basic supplies, we still strive to be the best. Hurricane Harvey hit us, but it didn't kill us.

My Project

I am requesting assistance to help me be a better teacher for my students, given our circumstance. When my school was flooded by Hurricane Harvey, I lost access to my institutional technology and my students have been suffering since. I feel that these Ipads with protective cases and the in class laptop will enhance my students math knowledge and give them the ability to learn at their own individualized pace. The Ipads will allow them to access math subscription that assists them in mastering Math concepts. I believe that students learn best when they are able to differentiate their learning. Math is a very tough subject and most of my students are below grade level, so with the Ipads we can make learning math fun and engaging by using free math apps and games as new ways to learning old material without feeling discouraged. Most of my students come from low income homes where they do not have access to adequate technology.

Enhancing the curriculum with technology as well as my knowledge and high spirits will provide an experience like no other!

These Ipads will simplify abstract topics into simple, easy to understand visuals that students can then see in action. With these Ipads, we can use Math software and complete our daily work. I want to make learning fun for all my students, however, it is discouraging when they feel no care cares about their education and making sure they have what they need to both strengthen and challenge their learning. So, I want to assist my students in becoming all they can be in this generation of technology. Many of our my students can't afford the late and greatest, so your generous donations will give them hope that they can succeed!
