Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After 8 years of being a paraprofessional, I am transitioning into becoming a classroom teacher. Last June my 5th graders that I've known since they were in Kindergarten graduated and I am now back with lower grades. My new ICT 2nd graders remind me of the rigorous transition I have been doing over the years. They are definitely more in need for me to be hands on with them which makes lessons more exciting.

Teaching throughout the pandemic certainly has had its challenges and for that I will make an immense academic impact for my students first year back in the building fully.

These students have missed out on in-house learning for their kindergarten and first grade years which are two very vital years. I am willing to take any PD course to help me help them. These scholars are more than capable of getting back on track. It's such a pleasure contributing to their future success.

My Project

Being in an ICT classroom, I share the room with two other teachers. One who already has this resource and one who needs one as well. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic all of our Professional Development meetings are virtual. This resource will be beneficial for the students because it allows my self and the other co-teacher to develop the knowledge and skills needed to address each of our students’ needs.

The more I develop my educating skills the more I can implement effective planning into my lessons.

Keeping my Math and Reading skills relevant and up to date helps get the students back on track from what was missed out on during remote learning. Learning more ways to differentiate strategies and goals for similar learning outcomes for the students will be grand.

Parent engagement can also benefit from this resource. The other teachers and myself can have the ability to make individual phone calls on our individual AirPods. During parent engagement we discuss students progress and expecting goals.
