This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Will you help our school purchase a class set of Speed Stacks? Sport Stacking is an individual and team sport that involves stacking 9–12 specially designed cups in predetermined sequences as quickly as possible. It is an very affordable alternative to screen time and students love this sport.
Sport stacking is taught in more than 55,000 schools across the US.
I teach in an underserved (Equity Focus) community and school and we often don't have access to the same supplies that other more affluent schools and communities have.
Sport Stacking will help learners in many areas (which are essential skills for athletes and many other occupations) : increased reaction time, developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, reaction time, sequencing, concentration, bilateral coordination, while also promoting teamwork and goal setting by incorporating competitive elements and personal best challenges; and learn and demonstrate goal setting, sportsmanship, and fair play.
Our goals for this project are: to level the playing field for our students and give them access to more innovative sports. Stacking cups encourages sustained cognitive and visual attention, it is fun, and it would be completely NEW to them. This fun and sustained practice can translate into improved focus in academic settings and daily life. Our students deserve access to the new and innovative sports that other schools are able to purchase with help from strong PTA's and affluent communities. Please help our underserved kids and communities.
