Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

High school provides the path to college and career opportunities. My students are a mix of ninth and twelve-grade students transitioning into high school or transitioning out of high school. Many of them are the first ones in their families to achieve this milestone, and they are proud of it!

My students are a mix of mainstream and English language learners aged 14-18 and represent diverse cultural backgrounds.

Although they are culturally different, they share the desire to learn and have opportunities that are often not available in the countries they left behind. Many of my students decided to come to our school because of the nurturing community and the opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

In my classroom, I strive to provide my students with multiple opportunities to learn, grow and explore while figuring out what path they want to take in life. An important part of this journey includes instilling a love for learning. So together, we try to foster that.

My Project

We’ve all experienced how difficult it can be to hear someone speak while wearing a mask. With school masks mandates in place this fall, it’s imperative that my students can hear me while wearing a mask.

A voice amplifier will help project my voice better during lessons so that my students can hear me clearly and be able to learn.

Providing a quality audio experience in the classroom is going to be crucial in getting students engaged in learning, as many return to the classroom. Additionally, having extra masks available is also important to keep everyone safe.
