My Students
My students, now more than ever, need joy in their lives as they return to in-person classes. This transition has been tough for some of my students, and I want them to feel supported and heard every step of the way. Music class gives them the space to improvise, create, and perform as they work to discover their potentials. They are very active students, overflowing with curiosity and kindness, excited for each new day back in the school building. We are a Title I school, so many of my students do not have access to instruments or technology at home. We want to continue to encourage their excitement and exploratory nature.
My Project
Currently, my music classroom does not have functioning speakers. My young students often strain to hear the music out of my small, personal bluetooth speaker. We engage with recorded music every single day, dancing and responding as we learn about new artists and concepts.
The addition of a large speaker and a teacher microphone could transform our music classroom into a much more accessible space!
Turning up the volume will help not only the way my students explore the music, but will also help them to communicate and listen more comfortably. Lastly, the addition of the bluetooth microphones could help bolster their confidence and excitement when it comes to performing.
