My Students

There are many things I like about my students: they are determined to succeed in all content areas, they encourage each other during our class meetings, both the physical and online spaces, and most of all they treat each other with respect, despite the cultural differences in our school. Approximately 70% of our students are receiving a free or discounted lunch, making our population, the highest percentage in our geographic district.

As diverse as my students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics, which makes a wonderful melting pot of disparate skills.

Skills that many of my students possess, and some waiting to be tapped. We have honor classes on each grade level, as well as general and special education classes, where we serve students with a range of disabilities, such as learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, intellectual disturbances, and autism spectrum discord.

Our students always find time to give back by participating in cultural events and community service opportunities such as coat drives for the homeless or food drives for City Harvest, jeans for teens, and pennies for cancer. They are hardworking, determined, supportive, young people who deserve only the best possible opportunities. They are truly awesome!

My Project

In today's classrooms, the traditional way of teaching has changed drastically. Given that we must maintain our distance and wear a mask during teaching, it's going to be very difficult for us to understand each other.

To eliminate these problems, we are asking for a portable voice amplifier for my students in the class, and a headphone set to ensure that the students at home can all hear me with clarity at a great volume.

To keep my students motivated during these times, I will present them with inspirational cards.
