Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school places a big emphasis on extra curricular activities. Our band program provides students the opportunity to participate in these types of activities by holding performances in our community at many functions, such as at free public concerts and at the opening of new stores in our city.

My students come from many different backgrounds.

Some were born in other countries and speak more than one language. The ones in my advanced bands are very committed to making music and sharing their talents with their parents, friends, and other members of their community. Our Jazz Band is well known in our city and is always in demand for live performances. These students take pride in what they do are always eager to perform.

My Project

My students will use the amplifier we are requesting to enhance their live performances. Whether we perform at a park, or in an auditorium, we need to use a Public Announcement system to make sure everyone in the audience hears our performances. My Jazz Band students hold approximately 20 performances throughout the school year. Running a live sound system is an important part of what they learn in class in preparation for those performances.

Donations to this project will help in continuing the important lesson of setting up and managing a live sound system.

This is a lesson that some of my students can take to the next level and possibly pursue a career in sound engineering. But, even if none of them do this, their confidence level will be raised every time they perform because they will know that some one cared enough about them to facilitate a proper sound system for their live shows.
