My Students

Pick up your backpack! Do you say this all too many times to your child? Well, I have the same problem in our classroom. I want our classroom to be a place for learning, free of mind-cluttering distractions. Students don't come to school to clean, they come to discover!

Our school is the best!

Our students are responsible, caring, and serious about learning. We are a diverse population of students and teachers, who come together to share our uniqueness through cultural celebrations and academia. Our parents are the most supportive parents I have ever had the pleasure of working with; going to the ends of the earth to ensure success for our students, too!

My Project

I am requesting a backpack hanging rack that is mobile. On most days I will have it outside the classroom on the ramp and on rainy days we can easily wheel it inside. The rack is similar to the one we have for the lost and found items at the school. The rolling stool is low and cushioned, providing easy mobility for me to move around the room. It is low, so I can conference with one-on-one or work with a small group of students. It has shelves for me to store supplies, so I don't have to waste time going back and forth from my desk. Finally, the rolling file cart will be used to store student work, so that they can easily access it for conferencing with me or I can place independent work in it for them.

Our classroom is very small, and as our students grow into 3rd graders, it feels smaller and smaller.

We have only one closet to store backpacks and classroom supplies. Each day the students scramble to find a hook to hang there backpacks on, so they won't have to end up at the bottom of the pile.
