My Students

Vampires, monsters, and all things spooky! The new Nightmare Literature course needs some creative books to add to our classroom library.

With the recent budget cuts, my school is not able to buy us all the new books we need.

This year I am teaching a new Nightmare Literature class and we need books. My students are at all different reading and writing levels. They are all interested in different genres and activities. I need a set of high interest books that offer variety for my kids to engage in.

My Project

"American Chillers" by Johnathan Rand is a set of books that consists of scary stories based in different states with different types of monsters. There is something for everyone in this set. There are stories about ogres, vampires, mad scientists, freaky weather, magical historical artifacts, crazy toys, dragons, aliens and more. Each of my students will pick a book to read and then share a book report with the rest of the class. After discussing plot, imagery, conflict, characterization and theme, they will write stories of their own based on these literary elements.

My students need interesting books written by talented authors so they can learn the craft of creative writing.

Please help me to inspire the love of reading and writing in my kids. Reading and writing are skills that they will need to be successful in high school and beyond. Developing these skills now will help them in college and career readiness.
