Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In today’s fast-paced world, creating a calming classroom environment is essential for student success. My goal is to transform our classroom into a peaceful space that promotes focus, creativity, and emotional well-being. With the help of soft lighting, greenery, and personalized motivational stickers, I want to create a welcoming atmosphere where students feel supported, safe, and ready to learn.

My Students: My students come from diverse backgrounds, with many facing challenges both in and out of the classroom.

As high school students, they are navigating academic pressures, social dynamics, and personal growth. They deserve a space where they can feel grounded, express themselves, and learn in a setting that encourages calmness and reflection.

My Project: I am requesting the following items to help create a serene classroom environment:

LED String Lights and Soft Lamps: These will provide soft, warm lighting that helps students feel more relaxed, compared to the harsh fluorescent lights found in most classrooms.

Indoor Plants: Bringing nature into the classroom has been shown to reduce stress and improve concentration. Plants will also improve air quality, adding to the overall wellness of the room.

Motivational Stickers: Personalized, positive reinforcement goes a long way in helping students feel valued and motivated. I plan to use these stickers as part of a rewards system and to decorate students' personal items or notebooks, promoting self-expression and a sense of belonging.

Impact: This project will help students who struggle with anxiety, stress, and focus by transforming our classroom into a calming space. With better lighting, natural elements, and motivational reminders, students will be able to focus more on their learning and less on external stressors. Research shows that a calm environment supports higher levels of creativity and engagement, which is critical for my students’ success.
