Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach twenty 6-7 year old students. They arrive in my class eager to learn. My students' learning abilities vary, depending on their ELL-limited English, SPED-learning abilities, and/or whether they are visual, auditory or tactile learners. Students in my class enjoy engaging in our lessons and share their thoughts and ideas. A common interest they ALL share is their desire to learn!

My group of students this school year are very creative, expressive, and inventive learners.

They all have an array of colorful personalities that make a "typical" school day an adventurous one! All my students inspire me to teach, even on the challenging days whether behavior is an obstacle, daily interruptions occur, or lessons are lengthy. What makes it all "worthwhile" are the moments when students have their "aha" moments whether they achieve their reading goal, solve a math problem successfully, or enjoy a lesson!

My Project

In my class, all of my students want to become better readers and math problem solvers. Unfortunately, most come from lower income households and they do not have tablets or computers at home to utilize our school district's computer-based program for additional practice. I only have five computers available for my students in class and more than half of them need to improve their reading and math skills.

It will help my students tremendously if they had tablets in class, so they can practice and complete their reading and math lessons more consistently and successfully.

As my students improve and progress in reading and math, they will be able to become more confident and independent readers and math problem solvers. The tablets in class will play a significant role in students' learning. First and foremost, more students will have a chance to practice their reading and math skills on the tablets. Secondly, students will have the tablets available for them in the computer center on a daily basis. Lastly, my students' confidence in their reading and math skill abilities will improve due to having tablets available exclusively for them.

The Amazon - Fire HD 8 - 8'- tablet will help all students in my class to enrich their reading and math performance!
