Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is the only Elementary to have a Mariachi band. The group consists of 30 dedicated students who practice once a week to learn classic Spanish songs. The students are very eager to learn how to play an instrument and learn how to sing.
Our school is a Title I school in which all the students receive free lunch and are also provided breakfast in the classroom to get their day started.
Many of the students live in very small apartments with multiple families living together. School becomes a second home for many of the students; they feel safe and happy to be at school every day, and they really enjoy practicing their music and performing in different venues around the city.
My Project
Our students have become very popular, and we get invited to many local events around our community.
We are in need of microphone stands that will hold our wireless microphones.
Many of the events that outdoors do not provide us with microphone stands, and that makes it difficult for the public to enjoy the songs or music when they cannot hear.
The students sing so loud that it touches the audience's heart, and they sound amazing, but they can sound better if they have the microphone stands and everyone can hear how wonderful they sound.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
