Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At the end of each learning target, my students take a unit test to demonstrate their mathematical understanding. The question I always get asked by students is "Why do we have to take a test again?" I know the importance of giving my students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in different ways. I want to incorporate more project-based learning activities in my class so students can show what they have learned in a different way other than just taking a unit test.

Projects are a great way for students to better engage in math class and really show their mathematical understanding.

The addition of poster board and different color cardstock will allow my students to create unique projects where they will show their learning.

Instead of always giving my students a test at the end of the unit, I would have my students create a project where they can show the skills they have learned. This will be more meaningful to my students as they will be in charge of their own learning and they will be creating something using their mathematical knowledge!
