Amazing Glazing

My students need 2 sets of glazes, underglaze pencils and gloss glaze.

I teach art to 430 elementary students who love working with their hands and making clay pieces. Pottery has played an important role in history as both functional and artistic objects. Students in my class learn how to use different techniques to working with clay as well as the historical relevance of pottery in different cultures.

We have been blessed with generosity and have been funded to purchase the clay we need to fulfill part of our educational goals. To round out this experience I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to glaze their finished pieces and receive the entire ceramics experience. Painting with Acrylics or Tempera is lackluster and relegates to piece to merely decorative and not functional objects that students or parents can use.

I have listed a variety of glazes that will help get our ceramics program up and running. The result will be beautiful artwork that students can eat and drink from or proudly display on the shelf. In my opinion glazing a piece of pottery completes the ceramics cycle and makes a piece fully recognizable as a work of art.

Your generosity will ensure that my students receive a well rounded education in the arts and the art of ceramics. They will be able to create pieces that will be treasured for quite literally a lifetime, and be proud to display and share with others.
