My Project

Fifth grade is an exciting year. Students are not only the leaders of their elementary school, but they're transitioning to middle school! It's a year of increased responsibility, hard work, and exciting changes. This will be my first year teaching fifth grade, and I would love to update our classroom library with lots of engaging titles.

I will have three classes of fifth graders, so our classroom library needs to cover a wide range of reading interests!

There are realistic fiction books about kids their age dealing with the challenges they will face as rising middle schoolers. I hope their journeys with the main characters of these books will teach them the important social-emotional skills they will need to overcome whatever they may face. There are exciting fantasy books that take them to new worlds with magical creatures. These books will allow them to expand their minds and use their imaginations. There are books with thrilling mysteries that will ask them to use deductive reasoning and logic. This list of books has something for everyone!

The research is clear: relevant books that reflect students' interests and identities have a lasting impact on students' lives. Thank you for supporting me in building a quality classroom library that will help grow the next generation of readers!
