Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is shared with my co-teacher as she is the general education teacher and I am the special education teacher. We have 31 sweet and hardworking kids. We have peer monitors who checks each others homework and helps each other when they struggle with a concept.

They are a group of students that try their best to learn the subjects.

The students with IEP have a learning disability, speech impairment, and hearing impairment. Also, we have students that are ELLS. In social studies, the students enjoy completing extra work and enjoy having classroom discussions on the topics. My kids learn using many modalities, but enjoy visuals and interactive instruction. My school is a big school made up a diverse population and a community of teachers who support and care for one another and their students. We are a family and we communicate weekly to figure out the best way to meet all the students needs. We also have a large ELL population. We are working rapidly to find strategies to instruct students using academic vocabulary and to help them progress.

My Project

The resources I requested will help engage the lower level and the higher level students. I requested colorful paper, sentence strips and scented markers to help the students visualize instruction and to make them excited to learn. I requested the beanbag and the pillows to have a comfortable place for students who are great listeners to relax while they are reading and receive a reward for great behavior. The social studies book bins I requested to help provide materials for students in social studies. They will use the materials to research topics as well as write informational reports about those topics. The dry erase boards will be used for our place value mats so students can show us their work in the meeting area using this tool. Also, we will use the decimal cards to help with place value a major standard of 5th grade. The interactive graphic organizers will provide us visual outlines for each unit of study in reading and writing

The plan book will help my co-teacher and I plan for the week and help us differentiating instruction.

These donations will help provide more visuals, and interactive materials that will help the students learn difficulty concepts that are important to the grade. The students will be excited to complete school work because they will have materials that help them learn. The students will use these resources to have a deeper understanding of these concepts and get them ready for middle school
