Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom, they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology-infused lessons. Every day, they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcoming their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.

Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.

They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.

Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.

My Project

Due to current COVID restrictions, teachers must keep accurate seating charts and prevent students from switching seats so if the need arises we can perform accurate contact tracing. During class, some students run out of battery charge and do not have access to an outlet because. A safe and effective solution to the problem is to provide my students with access to a portable laptop/cell phone charger. As you may already know, classroom instruction relies heavily upon technology to reduce the spread of germs. Please help my students continue learning even when their device runs out of battery charge.
