My Students

Every morning, I am greeted by 24 energetic, excited, fun-loving children. These children come from all different walks of life and bring their own creative energy to our classroom. Our classroom is a very fun and nurturing atmosphere and together we are a team.

My students are a wonderful group of second graders from diverse backgrounds.

They are bright, funny, clever, curious, and show a world of potential, but need your support to be able to reach their full potential. I love working with 2nd graders because they are becoming much more aware of the world around them. They are beginning to want more independence, but are still looking for someone to guide them.

My Project

These materials will allow all my students the choice to find a spot that fits their individual learning style. We all like to have choice in our lives and what better way than to let them choose how to do their work. Students are able to stay focused longer, work better, and get more work completed when they are comfortable. This will give them that choice! Having different types of seating allows them the opportunity to stand, sit, lay down, work outside, and rock: all which get blood flowing and increased oxygen flow to the brain. Bonus! This project will give them additional choices such as a lap desks, stools, large cushions to use with clipboards, and yoga mats for sitting outside. Flexible seating also creates community because no student has an assigned work spot, instead it will encourage them to take turns in different work spots and seating. This will help add to making learning fun and students wanting to come to school.
