Alternative Seating for Special Education Students

Help me give my students with special needs wobble chairs to focus and access instruction in order for them to continue to be a part of the general education setting with their typical peers.

My Project

This current group of 3rd grade students have had their foundational early elementary years taken from them by COVID-19. The sudden expectation to be able to sit for extremely long periods of time and be attentive throughout hour and a half blocks when they have had only 20 minute blocks throughout distance learning was a challenge.

In providing the tools to help my students with special needs feel successful in accessing their learning, it will have a rippling effect, helping to build confidence and a growth mindset to tackle any challenge my students may face.

This alternative sensory seating is not just a cool seat; it is a tool that will help students focus and access learning to close the gap the pandemic caused. Students stay more focused and alert when given choice seating.
