Alternative Seating for Optimal Learning: Exceptional Students Need Options

Help me give my students alternative seat choices for optimal learning experiences! Including stools, wobble stools, and floor cushions.

My Project

All students are unique in their learning styles and abilities - so we differentiate our instruction to encourage success. Some students also require differentiated environments to be successful. One of those environmental factors includes seating. As I look across my room at this very moment, I see 3 students struggling to use their chairs correctly. One student is standing, one students is using a chromebook cart as a desk, and the other is sitting on his knees in his chair. The reasons vary from diagnosed ADHD, to sensory differences and trouble sitting still for long periods of time. The wiggle stools will allow my students to sit at their desks and participate in whole group instruction. The regular stools will allow my students to sit at my round table and work in a space that is optimal for them, and the floor cushions will give my students a soft place to sit when they need a softer environment to work or read. My goal for my students is to provide them with safe spaces to work and wiggle as they please while also fully participating in learning activities.
