My Students

I teach an exciting, motivated, and creative group of fifth-grade students. My student population is very diverse. I have some who are working below grade level, while others need to extend their thinking and apply the skills they have mastered in meaningful ways.

My students enjoy coming to school each day and learning from each other.

They use their critical-thinking skills to ask good questions and analyze information. They want to know about our community and how they can have a positive impact on it.

My Project

We live in Southern California and we live fairly close to the beach. The idea of using salt water as an alternative energy source is a question that my students often bring up. This idea has inspired my students to ask questions like, do you think one day salt water will power our homes? To help my students learn about salt water energy I am requesting 17 salt water robot kits. My students will build this kit in pairs and will begin to see how salt water energy can be used to power our future. I am also asking for 6 Jimu Robots. Jimu will provide students with an alternative way to combine robotics and problem solving. Jimu great addition to any STEM curriculum, teaching today's youth highly relevant skills in programming and robotics to better prepare them for the world of tomorrow.

Many of our environmental issues are being solved by engineers and this project will lay the groundwork for students to acquire the skills necessary to help protect our environment.

Salt Water is a renewable resource and this project will inspire my students to think of new and exciting ways to use this energy. It is important that my students begin to see how important alternative energy sources can be so that they can help create solutions for tomorrow.
