I am a special education teacher in a Title One, priority school. This means that there is very little funding; yet, we have a high need for materials to support instruction. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. These challenges do not stop them from participating in class with a bright smile and an eagerness to learn something new.
I love how curious my students are about the world around them and how much they love school and learning!
My students are a diverse group of learners that bring a variety of cultures into the classroom. They all bring a unique personality and a strong desire for learning. In our class, we focus on a growth mindset, fostering positive relationships with our peers, and choosing kindness above everything else. This year brought upon some of the most difficult challenges, yet, my students showed perseverance and remarkable achievement through the school year. Their eagerness to learn is what keeps me motivated.
My Project
I want to ensure my kiddos are warm, to help continue keeping them safe in our classroom. The jackets that I am requesting will help keep our littles warm! We need your help in order to keep my kindergarten and first graders warm during the cold winter months.
Having a warm jacket will not only help my students stay warm but also focused on learning throughout the day!
Ensuring all my students have a jacket will also help them focus; rather than worrying about being cold or if they didn't have a jacket to bring to school. Due to COVID, our students have had to quarantine if they have sniffles, a cough, sore throat, etc. This means they miss multiple days of learning! A lot of the time, my kiddos may simply have gotten sick due to the cold weather. I want to help my students stay warm, safe, and healthy in my classroom. One way to do this is to make sure they have warm clothing to avoid getting a cold and missing out on their learning.
