Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As much as I would love to sit here and bore you with the truths of classroom environments, the fact is, that these youths need to be heard. I want to fight for my students and their rights, assisting them in understanding their rights to vote, so that in a year they can exercise it, but do these children even understand what they're voting for? Do they know that they are voting for themselves?

The purpose of this project is so that I can allow my students to express their freedom, while also teaching them about the laws, bills, and rights that we have been fighting for, for centuries.

We all want change for our students, and our students want change for themselves. We are constantly faced with the same question: "How do we create change?" The answer is, that we create change by listening to who it affects the most: our future generations.

Besides that, this podcast kit is a great way for students to practice and successfully implement public speaking and the method of persuasion. As I teach 11th grade English, we know these students are about to enter the real world. Whether they need to talk to a college coach to persuade them to join their team, convince their colleges why they deserve to go there, or exercise their rights to vote and other privileges, they are now at the age to start implementing change. Being an eloquent speaker is the most powerful tool any individual can have. Will you let their voices be heard?
