Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students hail from predominately low income backgrounds where 95 percent of them receive free or reduced lunches. As a result, it is very difficult to procure art supplies from the students' families. The students focus on excelling in core content, in preparation for entry into the Early College Dual Enrollment program where they earn college credit or an Associate Degree while in high school.

The students show a great interest in the Arts, as this is the only Fine Arts class offered at this time.

They are eager to learn about art and to have a chance to create. Students have shown an increased self confidence in their work and are excited to share what they are doing with others.

My Project

These materials will help me to provide a virtual Art learning experience for my students that will allow for a variety of visual demonstration methods. I would be able to model live drawing techniques using the digital drawing pad. The lighting will improve the quality of all presentations live and recorded.

All of the materials will be used to engage the students to optimize the their learning experience from home.

The materials will allow me to display fine art images and videos in a large format that replicates the visual quality and experience of being in person.
