Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a public Montessori school in which our students start by learning practical life skills which they will use in everyday life. Our students are an amazing group of 3 - 6 year olds. They stay in our classroom for a three year cycle. The relationships that they develop are inspiring.

Our students come to us from an urban environment in which resources run scarce and teachers have to find imaginative ways to engage our students.

Most of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, however they come to school eager to learn.

My Project

The materials I have chosen will help promote language skills, coordination skills, thinking skills, math skills and most important, creative skills.

The Stack and Match Magnetic Rings provide little scientist an understanding of how magnets attract and repel while The Engineer-A-Coaster helps develops skills in understanding speed and momentum, force and motion.

This material will work wonderfully with the standup write board providing students a full kinesthetic experience.

The Stand-Up Write Board is double-sided which allows for more children to utilize it at the same time. Students can be building words on the other side of the Stand-Up Write Board with the magnetic letters. The magnetic upper and lowercase letter builders develop skills in letter recognition, fine motor development and hands-on skills they need to start writing. Magnets can be essential for learning to draw and write because they help to strengthen small finger muscles as they attach and remove them from the metal surface

The Magnetic Language Builders develop skills in classifying objects, sequencing, understanding descriptive words and building vocabulary and The Magnetic Counting Rods develop skills in counting to 10, using one-to-one correspondence, numbers and quantities, and comparing numbers.

Magnets are fun and they involve hands on learning that inspire students in their learning in all areas of the curriculum.
