My Students

I am an elementary school counselor at a public school In Brooklyn, NY. I work with students across all grades K-5. My students all have different needs and goals but overall are learning how to identify and express their feelings. They are learning coping skills to help manage their emotions. They are learning how to resolve conflicts. My students are also learning resilience and about having a growth mindset. My overarching goal is to help students feel safe and comfortable being who they are.

My Project

I am so excited to welcome all of our students back to in person leaning. The past year and several months have been difficult for everyone. Now more than ever we need to make sure that our students have the language to express themselves and their feelings.

The books that I am requesting will help my students continue to identify and name their feelings and develop strategies to self regulate and manage their big feelings.

Students will see they are not alone and that all feelings are ok. Bibliotherapy is central to my counseling work. There is so much to learn through books.

The books and materials I am requesting cover a wide span of different emotions and give specific tools and strategies to help manage them.
